Actresses Who Turned Down Roles Opposite The Khans

Its not too often that you get offered a role by the Kings of Bollywood, and so it makes them even more interesting to hear about. Every time a Khan is denied by an actress, it’s a feather on their caps. While these may be rumours, they certainly aren’t without fire. Some of these actresses straight-up rejected the Khans in the most amazing way possible –

1 PRIYANKA CHOPRA

Ghajini was the turning point in Aamir Khan’s career, as he prepared himself for months both physically and mentally. The movie was hyped beyond anyone’s expectations and it fired up some of the most ardent critics of the Khans. However, as the rumour mill goes, PC was the first one offered up the role. Literally, PC felt like she didn’t have enough of a role in it, and she decided to turn it down. No harm, no foul – and everything went on as planned. There were not hiccups in production, and Asin got the role next up. What happened to PC right after? Her career took off as well, making music and movies in the US for millions to enjoy. Guess which other movie she rejected? Robot *ing Rajnikant himself.

2 SWARA BHASKAR

She dared to say no to SRK when he approached her for an upcoming project. Swara’s best known for playing off-beat characters and her movies like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhana and Nil Batey Sannatta were superhit films. She just wasn’t excited to play SRK’s mother (as we understand the situation). Swara wants to play younger roles and wants some meat in the movie before saying yes to anything that falls in her lap. The snub may have rubbed Anand L. Roy the wrong way though.

3 DEEPIKA PADUKONE

Deepika’s probably the only one to have rejected Salman Khan 5 times in a row. She just really doesn’t want to act in a typical masala-thriller film. In fact she was the first choice for Sultan, and she could have done an amazing job had it not been for some other more interesting films. Any regrets? Probably not. She’s been at the helm of many movies for the last decade now, and shes showing no signs of stopping any time soon.

4 KANGANA RANAUT

Kangana has rejected pretty much every Khan King that has approached her. Her strong comments and attitude towards films has made her a liability in many ways for the Kings. However, that didn’t stop SRK from trying, as he approached her many times for a role that was perfect for her. After she rejected it and decided to start off an off-beat career path, she became successful beyond anyone’s expectations.

5 AMY JACKSON

The Irish bombshell actually rejected Kick *ing Salman Khan, because she got a better offer from the South Film Industry. She was under contract with filmmaker Shankar, and the role eventually went to Jacqueline Fernandes. Safe to say, that Amy has a long career in Bollywood and everyone’s in love with her attitude and charisma.

6 PARINEETI CHOPRA

This one’s funny as well, because Parineeti rejected Kick as well. She didn’t want to act in a movie in which the character wasn’t strong enough, and to be honest she wouldn’t have suited the role as well. It’s a good thing that she continued to do great movies with other filmmakers as Salman and Parineeti wouldn’t have done a good job together.

It’s not every day that a successful actor turns towards their true passion. Who else could do it except for her, and she’s absolutely killing it with her innovative clothes and designer options.

2 SUNIL SHETTY (MULTIPLE BUSINESSES)

He’s the owner of Mischief, a series of boutiques spread across Mumbai, and is also in the real estate space with his company S2 realty. He also has a lot of restaurants to his name. if you’re wondering WTF Sensazione is, then you’re not wrong. It’s a company started by Sushmita to promote her line of jewellery and luxury chains of hotels and spas across the country. She’s started a production company called BheegiBasanti, and she’s launched a series of sari collections along with having a fitness DVD. She can really do it all!

She started off designing interiors and then became a writer with her novel “Mrs Funnybones”. This lead to her selling 100,000 copies and her second book becoming number 2 on Amazon’s seller list.

9 HRITIK ROSHAN

He’s probably one of the few celebrities who started their own fashion label, banking on his good looks and lean body. He’s made a few appearances on fashion portals and is selling his apparel line HRX through online channels. He’s also a part investor in the fitness start up CureFit and he’s invested in multiple other lines.

Richest Husbands Of Bollywood Actresses | Beautiful Actress

Where there is fame, there is usually power and money. When the three mixes together, you get a deadly combination that shifts the way forward for many actresses. In fact, a lot of them prefer to marry outside of the industry. They just don’t like what our industry has become and instead choose to participate in marriage outside. Some of them marry stinking rich people, while others have a decently sized savings account.
Call it love, call it fate, or destiny, but it’s cool and interesting how these famous couples got so rich and famous at the same time –

1 TINA MUNIM

Wife of Anil Ambani and a solid actress during her time, is going to be the richest one in the list. When Anil first laid eyes on her, he wasn’t taken aback or anything. She was the top actress at that time and Anil wanted to get to know her. When they met through a common friend in Philadelphia a few months later, that’s when they clicked instantly. In fact, the first time they met, Tina was struck by his simplicity and genuine nature. At first, Anil’s parents didn’t approve of the union, because of the negative stereotype of the film industry. Anil tried to convince his parents but ended up disconnecting from Tina for 4 years! Then, while his parents tried convincing him to marry girls that they had preselected for him, he refused adamantly. The love of his life, Tina waited all this while and finally they united. Their love story has been going strong for generations now, and they’re happier than ever.

2 SHILPA SHETTY

We couldn’t complete this list without mentioning Shilpa Shetty. Married to London business tycoon Raj Kundra, her bank balance skyrocketed overnight. While Raj makes 1000s of crores every year, Shilpa has also become quite the entrepreneur. The duo met early on with meetings related to the launch of her perfume brand S2. However, Raj’s wife was throwing accusations about her being a marriage-breaker. After a lot of struggles and pressures from each side of the family, they decided to get married and have a happy life with each other. Raj’s making close to 100 million dollars every year.

3 VIDYA BALAN

From being the nerdy one in Hum Paanch to marrying the MD of Walt Disney India, Vidya has come a long way in acting and in marriage. She’s one of the best actors that we have, and she’s married to a brilliant producer and head of the business. What’s special about their marriage is that their cupid was none other than Karan Johar, who had introduced the pair for the first time. It was a truly two-states kind of marriage with these two, who finally found love in the most unexpected way.

She got married at the age of just 23 to hotelier Abu Azmi. He’s the owner of many restaurants and shops including Koyla, Café Basilico, ChaiCoffi, Basilico House and Citywalk Shoes. He’s also active in politics and has a large number of successful businesses in India.

12 Old-School Games That’ll Make Desi Kids Feels Nostalgic

Ah 90s games! Weren’t the 90s the best time ever. We had Nickelodeon, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Phantom cigarettes, and Mango Frooti. We didn’t need anything else as we went from the cricket park to the building basement. We were young, free and didn’t have a care in the world. If one of us had a Tamagotchi, we would come to their house more often. With cyber cafes and online gaming, we shifted everything inside, where we would once do everything outside. Here’s 12 old-school games that’ll make any desi kid feel ultra-nostalgic –

1 UNO

While we still play UNO with our friends, the pleasure of destroying your BFF on a +4-double turn was the best. You can’t compare to it today because we’re all so distracted on our phones and everything. UNO made our childhood complete, and that’s we learned about the art of war – one mustn’t completely crush their enemy but given them a sliver of hope so that you can crush them publicly later on. LOL!

2 STREET-FIGHTER (1&2)

If you were a gamer child then you know what we’re talking about! SF2 was probably the best game ever, and we had so much fun playing it with our friends and family members. There’s no better feeling than to destroy your siblings on a combo-move.

3 MORTAL KOMBAT

Remember this? Scorpion would defeat anyone that lay in front of him. This is where cheat codes became so famous!

4 ALADDIN (PC)

Everyone’s PC had this game preinstalled, and we would play for hours trying to get all the apples. It was similar to Prince of Persia, but the graphics were unlike anything we’ve seen before. This was nostalgia and Disney literally tearing us to bits.

5 WOLFENSTEIN 3D

It wasn’t really 3D but we could kick down doors and kill Nazis. Sign us up anytime!

6 TETRIS

Remember playing this old calculator/game? It was so frustrating, and we would be so jealous of the kid that would be good at it. Tetris was a thrill of an adventure and a great game that we would play between classes.

7 FLAMES

Dustin’ off a classic here! FLAMES was literally what we would play all day, trying to figure out our marital status in the years to come. It was like matching Kundalis and we believed every second of it.

8 SAAP SEEDI (SNAKES AND LADDERS)

What a maze of a game. There are so many fond memories of playing this old school game in trains or during a long-weekend. Adventures galore!

9 LUDO

To this date, we still play Ludo, both on an app and in-person. Ludo’s an awesome game invented to test out the theory that your BFF won’t backstab you when you weren’t paying attention.

10 SCRABBLE

That moment when you spell Scrabble on a Scrabble board! Legen….dary!!!

11 KANCHE (MARBLES)

This was such a craze back in the day! We would be in the park, getting some sunlight and playing with these gorgeous beaded marvels of nature. It was a science and sports lesson all in one.

12 LATTU (TOP)

Your childhood was incomplete, if you didn’t go to a hill station and buy a Lattu from the local store. Spin them on your hand, or make your friends go crazy by spinning them on your classroom benches.

10 Modern Indian Poets Who Will Make You Fall In Love With Poetry (Preferably Be Hindi)

Life and poetry – when you get the two right, you feel a sense of compassion and love. Otherwise, life isn’t worth living if not filled with beauty. Because some of the best poets emerge from India, there is a strong association of the culture and the people of our country. We spontaneously jump into a sing song session in the second-class compartment, and other times we recite poetry to our friends at the park. Our country loves poetry and our poets are some of the most inspirational ones changing the way we view culture –

1 MEENA KANDASAMY

One of the most versatile poets in the country, she got her break as a writer and translator with her book Touch (2006). She’s performed the world over, and her speaking gigs at Jaipur Lit Fest have earned here a lot of respect. As a Dalit woman, she wanted to talk about the issues of her community, and her experience as a minority in the country. She’s voiced issues such as caste oppression, discrimination and gender relations. The best part about her poetry is that its related to her own truth that she wants to share with the world.

2 TISHANI DOSHI

Tishani is one of the few Indian poets that combines love, life and expression in her writings. She’s a poet, writer and dancer who wrote her first book more than 10 years ago. She’s won multiple accolades for her writing prowess, and she’s also participated in global competitions. Her poetry focuses on making the eclectic divine. Essentially, she likes to take a lot of different experiences and make it her own. Her poetry makes you feel self-illuminated and alive!

3 VYOMESH SHUKLA

He’s a poet of the resistance movement and calls upon his experiences with the right-wing era of the 90s. When certain political parties enforced their will on minorities, Vyomesh wanted to help out through poetry and writing. It was his tool for empowerment. He’s written two books, Phir Bhi Kuch Log and Hona Ab Jyada Hoga, to his credit, and his poem “Bahut Sare Sangharsh Sthaniya Reh Jate Hain” won the Bharat Bhushan Agrawal award in 2009.

4 GEET CHATURVEDI

Geet’s poetry has had flavours of Borges and Shankaracharya, and he reenergizes their work through his poetic expressions. He knows that a writer and poet reside inside what is “absent”. That’s because the emptiness is where the creative work comes from. One of his best poetry comes from Ubhaychar, which reads a seminal line –

“Vah apni prajati ka pehla tha jiski vyapak utpatti ke liye sarkar ki manjuri darkaar thi (He was the first of his creed who needed government permission for his large-scale production).”

5 S THENMOZHI

She’s a poet that doesn’t have a name for her unique style. She’s been called the future of Tamil poetry and has several stories and poems to her name. She loves to write about rural life and provide attention to the life of the poor farmer. She’s also graduated with a PhD in Chemistry, and she’s infused practicality with the effervescent.

6 CHE BRINDHA

A poet with a magical quality to her, Che has a sense of beauty in every word written. She wrote her first poetry collection Mazhai Patriya Pakirthalkal (Matters of Rain Shared) in 1999 and then 10 years later wrote her next publication called Veedu Muzhukka Vaanam (A House Full of Sky). The journey she’s travelled on, the roads she’s traversed, all speak to a larger point about being fulfilled and satisfied in life. Her poetry brings fresh perspectives where there were none before.

7 M HARIKRISHNAN

Harikrishnan has a true writers’ bend, where he focuses on each word and makes sure that his poetry has an impact on India’s future. He started his journey as an electrician in a Jindal Steel plant and has made a mark in the art of Koothu – a Tamil rural street theatre. He’s an editor’s writer and keeps his poetry deep and impactful.

8 KR MEERA

KR focused on delivering the truth, whether that be through contemporary writing or traditional poetry. Her piece on Ave Maria, won her the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009, and accolades internationally as well.

9 SONNET MONDAL

With a name like Sonnet, he knew he had to be a poet. He’s been called the young bard of India, and loves creating new worlds with his writing skills. His poems touch upon a deeper notion of love, happiness and longing. He’s also the founder of The Enchanting Verses Literary Review, and published 8 books on poetry, receiving international accolades.

10 AKHIL KATYAL

One of the most well-educated poets of our modern times, Akhil has published many great works with undertones of politics, people, and scholarship. He’s given a lot of attention to the conflicts in Kashmir, and he doesn’t mince words when it comes to LGBTQ rights.

Who Is Nirav Modi | Nirav Modi Dupes PNB Of 11500cr.

There are so many zeros in 11500 crores that we can’t even count. But probably the biggest zero in this case is PNB bank, which didn’t realize that all this was happening behind their backs until the final moment.

SO WHAT’S HIS BACKGROUND LIKE?

Nirav Modi is a flamboyant diamond and jewellery merchant (you may have seen the Lisa Hayden ad with his jewellery). His shops are everywhere and they’re across the world. Personally, Nirav is worth billions of dollars himself, and he’s defrauded the bank of more than $1.7 Billion. And much like Mallaya, he’s run to the US with no sign to be found. Right now, PNB bank don’t even know the extent of the situation, as he could have easily withdrawn billions more from others.

WHAT DID HE DO?

Here’s the official scoop – Nirav Modi convinced some junior level banker to give his company some LOUs. While this case came to light two weeks ago, the public came to know about it quite recently after it leaked. Bangalore jeweller, Hari Prasad was the first to bring the scam to light when he wrote a letter to the Prime minister’s office. In the letter, he mentioned 1000s of crores of money being taken by the Billionaire, and that he was going to flee the country forever. So the allegation is that Nirav Modi has been taking heavy loans without having assets to back it up.
When Jewellery businessman Hari Prasad sent over a complaint to SEBI, RoC, PMO and other offices, he got no response from them. In fact, they even closed his case without taking any action. It was suspected that Nirav knew some people working in these offices. When it came to PNB, Nirav also knew some junior level bankers who didn’t do a background check and didn’t store the LOUs in the correct manner. He also made friends with the Deputy GM of the PNB bank who conveniently retired.

WTF YOU SAYIN?

In simple words, he took out a bunch of money from the banks and paid off the bankers who were going to check him thoroughly. On the basis of this he borrowed tons of credit and scammed the whole country. He evaded the country on Jan 1, his brother on Jan 5 and his wife on Jan 6. He was last seen attending a conference in Davos on the 23rd of Jan and he’s been missing ever since.

WHAT NOW?

The banks got about 5000 crores of jewellery after the government raided his properties and recovered most of his assets. The government is all out to catch him and extradite him back to the country. Their official stance is “no one, no matter how big, would be spared”. Just like Mallaya, he will be caught and put behind bars. He’s been reported to be staying at the JW Marriott Essex House on the 36th floor with his wife and kids. Although, we’re not quite sure whether he’s running away or not, he’s under the radar of governments, journalists and recovery agents.
