Maharashtra Bans The Use Of Plastic Bags And Thermocols Within The State

Maharashtra government led by honourable Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis finally puts a ban on the use of plastic and on food containers made of plastic foam commonly known as thermocol, within the state. This scintillating decision has been implemented on Sunday on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa, a festival that marks the beginning of traditional New Year of Hindu Marathis.

After 6 months of discussion and debates finally, an official statement was given by the Maharashtra Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam on Friday in the Assembly, banning the use of plastics. He said that the ban would include the production, use, storage, sale, distribution, import and transportation of plastic and thermocol.

The decision was taken as a reaction to the increasing adverse effects of plastics on the environment. According to a study by Orbs media last year in India, 82.4% of tap water samples contained the hazardous plastic fibres. The most affected is the marine life as the plastic residues were found in fish, sea birds and mammals. And this is not enough; the careless throwing of plastic bags clogs the drains which lead to floods like situations in the country.

The decision taken by the Maharashtra government will definitely bring positive changes in the current environment scenario of the city. The Shiv Sena minister said that the ban would include plastic bags, thermocol, disposable cups and plates, cutlery, non-woven polypropylene bags, flex cards, plastic pouches and packaging. He also posed ban on the government offices and hotels using plastic materials.

However, plastics used to cover medicines, forest and horticulture products, solid waste, tree saplings and plastics used in special economic zones for export purposes, plastic covers and wrappers used for manufactured and processed products all would be exempted from the ban. Ramdas Kadam, further said that the plastic milk pouches would be more than 50 microns and should be recyclable, because the thicker the plastic, the easier it is to be recycled. He also said that these pouches should be bought back in not more than 50 paise.

He has strictly asked the milk industry to have a mechanism for the collection of used milk pouches and that it is mandatory to buy it back and said that it is their responsibility to have a proper recycling mechanism for PET (polyethylene terephthalate) items. “The mechanism should be installed by the manufacturers within three months of the rules and regulations being published” says Kadam.

Similarly, plastic water bottles should also be recycled and that the retailers to refund Rs 1 to the consumer on his/her returning the plastic bottle. He also mentioned that instead of completely prohibiting industries manufacturing PET bottles, the GST directorate would levy reuse and recycle charges and local bodies would collect revenue generated from it.

To make sure, that the decision is well implemented by every individual and/or organization, whoever violates these rules and regulations would be fined ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 25,000 and/or three years of imprisonment.

Know How Vijoo Krishnan Became An Inspiration For The Thousands Of Farmers In Maharashtra.

Recently, India witnessed one its most historic march when thousands of farmers marched all the way from Nashik to Mumbai with blistered feet to remind the government that it’s high time to fulfil their promises, even the blazing sun could not stop them. On Monday evening, unexpectedly the march by 55,000 farmers ended on a positive note when Maharashtra government accepted most of their legit demands on Monday evening.
Everybody across the nation was supporting and appreciating their immense strength and determination but there was someone who secretly led this march and made it a victory for the farmers. He is a 44 year old Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Alumni, Vijoo Krishnan who inspired all the 55,000 farmers.

Vijoo Krishnan hails from Kannur a village in Kerala, is a former President of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU). He was the Head of the Post Graduate Department of Political Science at St. Joseph’s College, Bengaluru. While his teaching tenure in Bengaluru, he forced the college administration to rent a hotel nearby and pay the transit fee of the students facing problem due to the protest against hostel fee hike.

The uproar of farmers in Kannur against the British imperialism and feudal system in 1946 makes him feel connected to the miseries of the farmers. His thoughts inspired and motivated the thousands and today he is Joint Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha, the largest farmer’s organization in the country. Apart from being a full-time activist, he is also a member of the first Gender Sensitisation Committee against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH).

In an interview with NEWS18, Vijoo Krishnan said “This is an uprising of the agrarian sector and it has been happening for the last two years. It is happening in many parts of the country such as Rajasthan, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh apart from Maharashtra.”

It was his efforts and leadership that inspired the farmers to march peacefully for their rights and turn the victory in their favour. Maharashtra CM Fadnavis said, “We held very cordial discussions and have conceded most of the demands of the tribals, labourers and farmers who took part in the march.”
He made everyone realize the importance of the people, responsible for the food on our plates and with this historic achievement in Maharashtra he is now even more determined to bring the change in the lives of the farmers, which are the backbone of the nation as we cannot deny with the fact that agriculture is the main source of income for India.

Happy Birthday Aamir Khan: Controversies On Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan has turned 53 this morning. Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan a.k.a. Aamir Khan born on 14th March, 1965 is an Indian film actor, producer, director and television talk show host. He is fondly known as ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ as he loves doing everything right in his own way. He made his film debut from his uncle, Nasir Hussain’s film, Yaadon Ki Baaraa in 1973. He releases one movie in a year and puts in all his efforts and dedication in a single project. Some of his popular movies are Qyamat se Qyamat Tak, Raja Hindustani, Ishq, PK, Dangal, 3 idiots, Lagaan,Dhoom3 and many more.
Unlike any other celebrity he is a person who maintains a healthy distance from controversies but somehow he is landed into one and more. Despite having an image of a teacher, an inspiration and our favourite Mr.Perfectionist, controversies have made him look a traitor too. Success does not come to him as easy as it seems to be. His bold and fearless opinions always grab the eyeballs of the media and the public. He is one of the newsmakers from the bollywood industry, which mostly leads him to some of the raging controversies of the nation.
He is a person who speaks less and works more but whenever he speaks it turns out to be the juiciest controversy of the town at least for a month.
Here is the list of some famous controversies Aamir Khan landed in because of his bold and outspoken nature:

1. AMIR KHAN’S INTOLERANCE REMARK

Aamir Khan’s comment on rising intolerance in India was no less than a forest fire. In a conference he said that his wife Kiran Rao feels unsafe in the country and wants to leave the country with the family. His remark gained politicians attention and was slammed for being ungrateful to his mother nation. As a consequence, he was soon removed as the brand ambassador of the ‘Incredible India’ campaign by the government and from Snapdeal by TATA group. Later, he said that he loves and respect his country and has no intentions to leave his motherland.

2. “SHAH RUKH LICKED MY FEET”

Not literally though! Aamir Khan who does not like much attending award shows or giving any public appearance has a sarcastic side to him. Shahrukh Khan and Aamir were not in talking terms for quite a long time when Aamir made a nasty remark which definitely did not go well with the Badshaah of the Bollywood. He said “Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for? Now, before you jump to any conclusions let me add that Shahrukh is the name of our dog.”

3. AAMIR ILLEGITIMATE SON JAAN

As per the sources, during the making of Ghulam, Aamir was in a live-in relationship with a British journalist, Jessica Heins who then got pregnant. Aamir then decided to end the relationship and refused to accept the child, Jessica, a single-mother is staying with his only son, Jaan back in London.

4. BROTHER FAISAL KHAN’S CUSTODY CONTROVERSY

When family matters come out in the public, things get little awful. Brother Faisal Khan, together seen in the movie, Mela, accused Aamir of keeping him mercilessly grounded and giving him wrong medications to prove him (faisal) mentally ill. Aamir and his father, Tahir, filed an application with the court seeking his(Faisal) custody. Aamir Khan won the case by receiving his brother’s custody.

5. REENA DUTT DIVORCE

Aamir was again in the limelight, when his wife Reena Dutt filed divorce application in 2002. Soon they both parted their ways with mutual understanding and Aamir Khan was once again in love with Kiran Rao during the making of Lagaan which finally resulted in the two getting married.

6. PK

One of the most eye-catching controversies related to Aamir Khan was the poster of his movie, PK where he is shown covering his modesty with a transistor. Many NGO’s protested against it until the court intervened and gave it a go ahead. But, that’s not it, theatres having PK posters were vandalised, as the movie was believed to hurt the sentiments of a particular religion.

7. DANGAL IN PAKISTAN

Post Uri (Jammu and Kashmir) attacks in September; its consequence was faced by Aamir Khan’s then upcoming movie Dangal. Pakistan officials said that the movie will not be released along with the India’s National Anthem. In response to which Aamir refused to get his movie released there without our National Anthem.
Amidst all these controversies, Aamir Khan is undoubtedly one of the finest actors in the film industry today. He believes in following his own rules and is also ruling over the hearts of millions. He is the only actor who never fails to surprise us with his unique look, storyline and acting skills every year.

Dream Home | 10 Dream Homes You Can Totally Make Your Own Under 100$

Dream homes are something of a mystery for many of us. When we look at celebrity homes and what all they do, they make us cry and weep. Well, not anymore. We can recreate much of what these dream homes look like, by spending less than $100 on each one of these recreations. You don’t need to break the bank, and with a bit of innovative magic and DIY skills, you can start decorating your interiors the way you want to.

1 THE QUINTESSENTIAL MODERN HOME

Sure, it looks amazing and unreachable, but it can easily be recreated by starting off with the lights. You can pick up these on Amazon on in your local market and hang them above your dining table. The next step to recreating this look is to understand how the light is playing with the surrounding. You should do a quick clean-up of your kitchen and install LED lights that have a soft bounce off shiny surfaces. Lastly, you can take it a step ahead by getting some funky crockeries online that look expensive but are all actually under budget.

2 THE INTERIORS OF DAWN

It looks absolutely gorgeous and right out of a royal home in Dubai. How can you recreate the look in under 100 bucks? You should start by understanding how space is being utilized here. The living room has its sofas near the corner and water driving the way forward. You can easily do that moving your furniture towards a corner of the water (facing away from the entrance) and then adding a small water pond or indoor garden near the other side. Go for brown and gold as your theme to create a royal look as well.

3 THE BLUE LAGOON

Here’s a house that looks right out of an Airbnb super home. You can start recreating the theme by adding two mirrors to each side of a wall, and having a small painting in the middle. You can even paint something yourself or ask a friend to do so. The coffee table in the middle adds some class to the look, which can be bought for cheap at a second-hand market. Talk to your local raddi-walla, they know the best deals for this stuff.

4 THE TREND SELECTOR

This house looks trendy AF! However, if you’ll look closer there’s not a lot going on. There’s a lot of focus being given to the red chair and the abstract painting in the back. You can recreate the look by adding a colourful piece of furniture and having some bright red accessories thrown around. Its not that difficult, but it will require a lot of thinking through stuff.

5 THE SPACIOUS DREAM HOME

Victorian era dream home anyone? Yes this house looks absolutely gorgeous and takes us to London or France. How can we possibly recreate this look? Well, its simple. You start with the curtains. See, the curtains are the thing that are making the house look larger than it actually is. Start with some long-curtains and then proceed to pick up cushion covers that look elegant and British.

6 THE TROPICAL PARADISE

This is a perfect home to recreate, especially if you have wooden furniture and a gold brown mix of colours around your living room. Start with a common house plant and palace it in a bowl filled with funky sandstones. Next, try to incorporate as much open air as possible and add some lights in areas where you may not have had light previously.

7 BUSY BUT CLEAN

This house looks a bit busy but looks elegantly clean with its black and cream combo. This colour combination isn’t for the faint of heart and it’s a really bold way to start the day in the morning. When trying to recreate the room we need to remember that the curtains and the paintings are doing half the trick. We can go online and find some dark-side curtains and match them with intriguing posters and paintings

8 THE THAI DREAM

There are a lot of wonderful Airbnb’s in Phi Phi islands and Thailand that look like this. Even in Miami Florida a lot of places have open area homes like this. Its definitely a dream home by its appearance, but we can instantly recreate this look by having a larger than life carpet. See, the carpet is doing half the work here and the other half can be captured by the smaller chairs on the corner. If we spread out our furniture and remove barriers between pathways, we can get a good shot at recreating this.

9 THE MASTER’S BEDROOM

Hello! What a room. Looks like its right out of a hotel room. What a bedroom. It truly is a master’s bedroom by the looks of it. You can get this look by opting for a mirror, which instantly increases the size of the room, and going for chocolate brown bed covers and sheets. This should make your room more appealing and get you one step closer towards elegance.

10 THE FIREPLACE FINALITY

11 THE FIREPLACE FINALITY

Finally, this beauty is a work of art. What a melange of colours and coffee shades. It reminds us of a cabin in the woods or an indie-coffee shop. There are lots of homes just like this that are inspired by celebrity pickups. Here’s what you can do. Start with side tables and sofa cushions. You can get something cheap and brown, and toss in a tall lamp to make your home more royal and egoless.

Miss World | Miss World Vs Miss Universe Why Miss Worlds Are More Popular

Now that Manushi Chhillar is one everyone’s minds, we can’t help but think who else should be on the list of the most popular pageant winners and we only end up thinking about Miss World winners.

When we think of some of the most beautiful and successful women in the modelling and movies world, we can’t help but think of mostly Miss World winners. We think of Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Yukta Mookhey and others. Sometimes we remember Sushmita and Lara, but apart from them we don’t really think about anymore.

Priyanka’s had a great career in movies and modelling, and she’s made a huge mark in all our minds. Indians just respect Miss World competition more as the winners are more India and capture the essence of that time. E.g. when PC won, the whole world was talking about her tenacity and beauty. That’s where she captured the hearts the minds of millions, and since then she’s become increasingly successful.

Miss World winners also tend to be more dynamic and have more personality. It’s a known fact that beauty fades after a while, but personality and charm last a lifetime. This is where the Miss World pageant shines with some of the most beautiful and charming women win the title. Even the Miss Asia Pacific has focused strongly on poise and presence and has given us the cutest actress we’ve ever seen – Dia Mirza (who won in 2000).

Even the Miss India competition has given us great actors like Juhi Chawla and Gul Panag. There’s something about these competitions where Indians just love the ladies that come out of it.

The other reason is that Miss Universe winners don’t spend a lot of time in India getting to know the locals. Their travel schedule is so busy that they’re hopping from one country to another that year. Miss World and Miss India winners can meet with producers, modelling directors and have a real connection with most of the decision makers in India. That really separates them from the talent pool in the local region, and they become instant superstars.

Anyone remember the winner of the Miss Asia Pacific ’70 edition? We’ll give you one guess.
Yes it was Zeenat Aman!

The other, the slightly weird factor could be that Miss World winners and Miss APAC winners always have a chip on their shoulder, so they work harder than Miss Universe winners to get the right roles and make the right moves. Miss Universe winners, on the other hand, could just be focusing on gaining more hype and surrounding themselves with as much long-term planning as possible.
At the end of the day, we can pick favourites till the sun goes down, but we know deep in our hearts that Miss World winners are our favourites!
In fact, the only thing we do remember from the Miss Universe competition is this epic fail. Remember?
