Oh, the 90s! A time when
everything was perfect, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the best movie of all time!
1 LITERALLY THE BEST CARTOONS EVER
Who can forget about Swat
Kats, Richie Rich, Scooby Doo, Dexter’s Lab, Johnny Bravo, PowerPuff Girls, The
Flintstones, and Cartoon Network! Then Nickelodeon came, and we got access to
newer cartoons from across the world. We were truly the first generation that
had access to anything outside of India. We were the first! 90s kids were the
best.
#2 YOU’D TEXT MESSAGE EACH OTHER THROUGH NOTES IN THE CLASSROOM
We didn’t have any phones or
mobiles, or pesky screens taking up our time. We had each other, and we used to
play silly games like FLAMES, but you know what? – We were the most innocent
and happy generation of all time. We had a blast. Nowadays the kids seem like
they’re already grown up and Instagram modelling by the age of 12.
#3 SUMMER HOLIDAYS!
We didn’t travel to Milan or Paris. We went to Shimla and Nasik. And you know what? It was the best time ever. We got to ride on camels and elephants while running across long stretches of greenery and valleys. We didn’t have a care in the world. Every summer holidays were like the Sound of Music reruns.
#4 JALEBI???!!!
Yeah, the ads. They were the best in the 90s. Until all
those boring, sexist, and stupid ads started to take over our TV screens.
Remember this one from Fevikwik? We’re still in splits.

#5 SAAP-SEEDI
Who remembers the good ol’ board games of the 90s? We do.
They were so much fun. We had nothing to do on a Friday night, so we’d call the
spirits in the Ouija board. Or other times we’d play Snakes and Ladders or Ludo
with our friends. Who here still plays board games? We do!.

#6 OLD FASHIONED LANDLINES
If you really wanted to talk to someone, you’d
have to ghumao these old dialler-phones. You’d have to turn every number across
a circular drive. And if you screwed up and dialled the wrong number, you’d
still have time to talk to them afterwards. Kids born in the 2000s, you don’t
know how it feels to get the last number of a landline number wrong.
#7 MAKING A SOLAR SYSTEM FOR A SCHOOL PROJECT
Nowadays we have iPads and Laptop, but back in the 90s we used to hand-craft things with PoP and thermocol. Literally, our whole house would smell of glue and paint. But it was so much fun. We would work together and have a blast! Potential energy to Kinetic energy conversion was so much more visual when we’d drop a can of paint on our head by mistake.
#8 RATTA MUGGING (MEMORIZING)
We used to draw lil’ symbols of mugs next to chapters that we had to memorize. And who could memorize them? We had so much confidence in our abilities that we thought that we could memorize entire syllabi without sleeping 3 nights straight.
#9 90S MUSIC
The BEST MUSIC EVER! Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Backstreet Boys were literally icons in the 90s. You couldn’t go to a friend’s home without seeing an N’Sync poster. Nowadays everything is online, and you don’t need to use a Walkman. Things are better but worse in 2018 .
#10 MSN MESSENGER, HI5, ORKUT, ETC
Well, Orkut’s made a comeback, but everything else that we loved and cherished has died. Including the popular phrase – ASL (Age Sex Location), a common pickup line for young men who couldn’t get a GF in real life.
Bye bye 90s we miss you too much! Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
Thanks, Rani Mukherjee and SRK for making our childhood memories!
