Players Unknown Battle Ground (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. It is inspired by a Japanese movie BATTLE ROYALE and based on battleground warfare. Its gameplay covers player versus player shooter game in which players fight in a battle royale, a type of large-scale last man standing deathmatch where players fight to remain the last alive.
PUBG has become immensely popular among teenagers and youth as
it offers various stages of battle where players need to showcase their ability
to win over till the end. Because of its gameplay or nature, this game is very
violent; the players imbibe violence in their behavior and get addicted to it.
It is associated with many harmful mental effects on children who play
PUBG.
Many countries including the likes of China, Iraq, Nepal, and Jordan have already imposed a ban on PUBG. This game was also banned in Gujarat earlier this year when police arrested few college students for violating the regulations. There is a growing call from various sections of the society to impose an all India ban on PUBG.
# Why the need to ban PUBG?
It should be banned in India for the primary reason that it is extremely violent and leads to gaming addiction. One can end up becoming less socially active. It promotes bad physical health, affects mental health and disrupts sleep pattern. This game severely affects children's lifestyles in a bad way and they end up being academically weak. This game promotes fanatical behavior which stimulates anger, irritation, mental imbalance, poor vision, posture imbalance, depression, and other mental ailments.
Several states in India are already planning to ban this game and issued an advisory to stop its download and usage. Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) had also issued an advisory against it and said that it has harmful, negative and has adverse impacts on the brain of the children.
# How are PUBG game creators responding?
PUBG makers, after receiving backlash from several parts of the
world, have introduced a feature to make the game safer. They have implemented
a digital lock for its users under 13 years of age. It will lock out players
under the age of 13 and they would have to ask their guardians or parents to
open the game for them.
Since its fundamentals are based on violence it is not advisable
to make this game active on any platform and needs to be banned immediately.
Children get addicted to it and end up being mentally unstable and even to
death. This game is effectively deteriorating the ability of youth and
ultimately weakening the strength of our country.
# Bottomline
Any addiction which weakens the human brain needs to be terminated
instantaneously before it does irreversible damages. PUBG game is no different,
the nature of this game is such that it has only negative consequences and does
not have a single productive outcome. Those who play PUBG end up in seclusion,
cut away from their surroundings and their life becomes a package of many
deleterious habits. They become less social and are constantly infatuated by this
virtual world where the only way to survive is by violence and aggression – a
situation which is extremely dangerous for any individual and society at large.
One must stop playing PUBG because of its side effects it’s
having on their mental and physical health, and overall in their life. Any
addiction towards violence and aggression will ultimately finish our and our
loved one's lives which are connected with us.
